Geotagging

" Geotagging is the process of adding geographical identification metadata to various media such as photographs, video, websites, or RSS feeds and is a form of geospatial metadata. This data usually consists of latitude and longitude coordinates, though it can also include altitude, bearing, accuracy data, and place names.

Geotagging can help users find a wide variety of location-specific information. For instance, one can find images taken near a given location by entering latitude and longitude coordinates into a Geotagging-enabled image search engine. Geotagging-enabled information services can also potentially be used to find location-based news, websites, or other resources.[1]

Less commonly this process has been called geocoding, although the latter term usually refers to the process of taking non-coordinate based geographical identifiers, such as a street address, and finding associated geographic coordinates (or vice versa for reverse geocoding)." Source from Wiki

I bought a camera which equipped with a built in GPS receiver to participate in geotagging. The camera P6000 from Nikon is a pro-sumer model, cost me RM 1550.00. Why is it important for me to have a geotagging, probably because I wanted to the first to have the geo tag my photo at Tharjath. To tell others that I was in Tharjath. I am taking photo here. The exif data stored together with the photo is not a fake, even though we still have software to write the coordinate. I hope the the guy at the office also aware that we are staying at ultra remote area and make a proper consideration to pay us like what E1.
